People often criticize medieval art and its artists for their lack of talent, when in reality, they were not bad artists; it was just frowned upon to draw realistically. This is because of their religion; the church of that time forbade realistic drawing techniques, making artists instead favor symbolism over 100 percent accurate portrayals. And even with this unrealistic way of drawing, I believe that, along with the symbolism, the imagery can still be appreciated; there are techniques and styles in this art that take time and talent that make this art beautiful.

idk about you but I love looking at old chinese art, something about it makes me giddy
I love the style that medieval Chinese artists used. I would argue it's better than medieval Europe for the detail alone.
