Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account info: username, email, hashed password, date of birth (13+ required), profile photo, bio, interests, and layout/music preferences you add.
• Google sign-in: if you use it, we receive your Google account ID, name, email, and profile picture (and date of birth when Google provides it).
• What you do on the site: friends, messages, posts, comments, photos, forum activity, badges, and similar content you create or share.
• Technical data: IP address, browser/device info, session cookies, and basic usage logs used to run and secure the service.

How we use it

• Run your account and the features you use (profiles, messaging, groups, etc.).
• Keep the site safe — age checks, spam/abuse prevention, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
• Send service notifications and respond to support requests.
• Improve performance and fix bugs (aggregate/anonymous where possible).

What's visible to others

FriendRewind is built for sharing. Your profile, posts, comments, and most activity are visible to other members according to your settings (for example, private profiles or album privacy). Direct messages are not public. See our Safety Policy for how we limit contact between adults and minors.

When we share data

We do not sell or rent your data for advertising. We may share information only when:

• required by law or a valid legal request;
• needed to protect users, the site, or investigate abuse;
• working with infrastructure providers (hosting, email, security) under confidentiality obligations;
• you sign in with Google — authentication is handled through Google's OAuth service.

Security & cookies

Passwords are stored hashed. Traffic uses HTTPS. We use cookies and local storage to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and protect against abuse. You can limit cookies in your browser, but some features may not work without them.

Your choices

• Edit your profile and notification preferences in Settings.
• Delete your own posts, photos, and other content.
• Block users you do not want to interact with.
• Delete your account — we remove personal data within about 30 days, except where we must keep records by law or in backups until they rotate out.

Minors

You must be at least 13 to use FriendRewind. We use date of birth to enforce age rules. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will remove it. Parents or guardians of users under 18 may also reach out with questions about an account.

International users

FriendRewind is operated from the United States. If you use the site from elsewhere, your data may be processed in the US.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
