Restricted Contact

These rules apply only when one person is 18 or older and the other is under 18. Friend requests and direct messages between two adults, or between two users under 18, are not affected.

Birth years within three calendar years: The two of you may send friend requests and direct messages to each other normally.

Birth years more than three calendar years apart:

• Adults cannot send friend requests to users under 18.
• Users under 18 may send friend requests to adults, but must confirm the recipient is 18 or older before the request is sent.
• Direct messages between an adult and someone under 18 are blocked in both directions unless you are already accepted friends.

Location privacy

Stored location fields for accounts identified as under 18 are hidden from adults and logged-out visitors. Signed-in users identified as under 18 may see them. Profiles without a usable individual age keep location hidden. Hidden values are removed before HTML or JSON is sent, and they are not used for location-based search matches or public structured metadata.

These controls do not remove location details you write yourself in a bio, post, message or image. Do not share your address, school or live whereabouts. Account owners can manage their own fields; authorised staff may access account records for administration and safety work.

Messaging, blocks and support

Normal direct messages require an accepted friendship and are subject to messaging settings and personal blocks. The three-birth-year peer exception does not override those controls. Blocking also filters identifiable blocked senders from group-message notification previews; it does not separate everyone who shares a group or recall alerts already delivered to a device.

Our designated support account has exceptions to the age and friendship restrictions so users can seek help and staff can respond to account or safety concerns. Age rules rely on recorded information and cannot establish someone's true age. Use blocks and reports if contact feels unsafe.

Browse

Adults cannot use age filters on Browse to search for users under 18. Location filters return an account only when its location is visible to the viewer.

Date of birth

Date of birth is set at signup and cannot be changed. A false date of birth to bypass these rules violates our Terms of Service and may lead to suspension.
