11/8/26 XG / Xtrodinary Genes

I was going to write about another song that’s been standing out to me lately, but when I was shifting through my options I realized that I had more than one performed by the pop group XG , and since I’ve been really into them I wanted to write a bit about them

Just when i was finally getting over my kpop phase, my friend who was not into kpop at all started getting really into XG. They're not exactly a kpop group, being that they're Japanese and sing in English, but they definitely operate in a similar sphere as they were promoted in korea essentially as a kpop unit.

I’ve been keeping up with them as a casual fan since the “Shooting star” era, but their latest album “The core”  Is actually really good. They literally did a  collab with RAPSODY. 

Also thank god the average kpop idol doesn't have drip like they do because then that disgusting ass industry would become an even more lethal drain of time and attention. Their stylists are on some other shit I swear no one matches their aesthetic.

+ The music is actually good and some of the members can actually rap. (Don’t even question if they can sing.)

I also appreciate that one of the members has come out as trans and they’re allowed to embrace that with styling and lyric changes. It shows that the members aren’t held on too tight of a leash by their company which is obviously a huge concern when talking about the idol industry.

I dont want to get my hopes up because I’ve been let down by idol groups before (fuck the kpop industry),  but for now they seem genuinely cool and the music and performances are killer.
