why did I quote “alt”? to be honest I have zero care in the world if you dress the way you do as long as you are happy, but I see people claim a title (e.g. scene/emo/goth) and then straight up ignores their subcultures’ ideology and what they stand up for and just washes it down to fashion (I know gyaru is a fashion oriented subculture, but it still is a rebellion torwards societal norms in Japan)
(they shop fast fashion, does some black makeup and then calls themselves “alt”)
why do I say that I don’t care but then I want to address this issue? because they are claiming a title of a group with beliefs that they actively don’t participate in. In my eyes that’s just completely wrong and I see so many issues with this and it just horribly misrepresents the community they claim themselves to be
I genuinely cannot have a say about anyone nor do I want to blindly judge these few people in Hong Kong, with no basis of what they actually do and believe in, but from my observation alone I feel like I have all the rights to be accusing them of doing what I think these people are doing and it’s honestly so disgusting
some people only calls themselves alt and doesn’t go by any known umbrella terms, but does that justify them not standing up to the wrong things in society and solely do everything to appeal to a small mass in hopes of getting recognition?
I can be wrong, I’m not saying I know everything and I’m some sort of alt police or anything but I feel like people claim titles so easily without a care of the rep their carrying of whatever title their claiming as and it’s honestly a sad thing to see
alts used to get bullied, they still get bullied and now their used as some sort of mule to rake in on the recognition their getting now? wow just wow
thx for reading my nonsensical thinking at 3:43am, I will most likely delete this by tomorrow goodbye :D
