« Previous Recap | Next Recap (N/A) »
hello again! it has been a whopping three months since my last blog entry?!?!?!!!! that is 1.5x longer than normal. but why? well, i got really busy during june, so i didn't draw much nor have time to make a blog out of what little art i did draw. fortunately, some sort of big artist event happens every july that got me to draw a shitton of artwork, so the quality and quantity of this blog should hopefully forgive the intermission between it and my last blog.
(if you're asking why this isn't coming out in the first week of the month, umm. well. i got really obsessed with hand-coding my artfight profile, which i spent a really long time making and it looks cool and i'm very proud of it even tho its still a wip XD so i've been working on this blog a teeny bit at a time instead of all in 1-2 days.)
oh hey, new thing: this is my first blog that i'll be cross-posting to both spacehey and friendrewind! to be honest, i'm largely tapped out of any discourse regarding these two social sites... my main reason for posting to both is that i have friends unique to both sites i'd like to share my art with through my blog on each site. i'm not sure how right i am to be worried about unrelated discourse worming into my comments section, but just to be clear, i will be deleting any comments unrelated to my art off my blog. :P
i don't have plans to repost this blog's previous entries to freindrewind presently, so if you're a reader on that site checking out previous recaps you'll be redirected to spacehey for the time being. also, i have yet to edit this code to work optimally for friendrewind, so my blog might look like crap for a while ^^; i fixed the most glaring issues before uploading, and i'll fix the rest at my earliest convenience!
i think that's all i have to say as a preamble this time around. i honestly can't remember because i lost my original preamble in a power outage unsaved WIP... and the only thing i could remember i said from that is "this blog encapsulates 3 months of art instead of 2 holishiiiittttt". i hope you take your time to enjoy everything i put together, and have a lovely day!
NOTICE: If any of the following art is for your OC and you'd like it removed from this post, PM me on ArtFight!

before showing off any of my art, i'd like to show off a special artfight attack my friend spent the entire month working on for me! it's an animated music video featuring a BUNCH of mine & my friends' characters and i really want the hard work put into this attack to be recognized. so, before checking out the stuff after this section, give the video a watch, and perhaps a like or comment as well? i can't express my love and gratitude for this attack enough.... it's so cool, so good...

comments: first and foremost, i thought i should introduce myself with my artfight team card! it was honestly a close call which team i landed on, but i ended up repping TEAM COMEDY! i really enjoy drawing art for the team cards, cuz i get to 1) dress myself up to match my team, and 2) do a little timestamp of which characters were important to me that year. this artfight, i went mostly with characters i drew new references for this year! (you can hear me talk about them in my previous blog, wink wink...) the last character was a wildcard pick, but i've been drawing her a fair bit more lately and think she is cool as shit. i have a feeling, i just KNOW there are people who have art styles to compliment her... and would do something amazing for her...
spoiler alert: a complete stranger made her an ENTIRE ANIMATED MV to the song butcher vanity. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!! (stunned amazement)
this year was very special in a lot of ways for me (even if it was terrible too due to IRL bullshit boooooo). the biggest thing i wanna highlight here is that this is the first year where all five of my features characters were attacked!! and by five unique artists, no less <3 i've been playing in artfight since 2022 and there has always, without fail, been at least one of my featured characters who never got attacked. i currently have 30 artfight character profiles (+ a toyhouse catchall profile) and haven't had less than 20 characters at any point being on artfight, though, so it's only natural people would pick their favorites and collectively ignore others.
even though artfight just concluded, i'd still like to take this time to network with any fellow artfight players! i'm in a lot of smaller communities with an even smaller amount of artfight participants, but all the connections i've made with fellow fighters have been very special and spacehey was no exception. thanks to all the spacehey friends who i got the chance to attack, and if we haven't met yet i would love to hear from you and give you a follow!
i also wanna boost my artfight hitlist form once again! i appreciate all the people who took the time to fill it out in time for artfight 2026. if you like the artwork you see here and wanna near-guarantee an attack from me, filling out this form is the MOST reliable way to get one! filling out my hitlist now means you don't have to remember who i am in the 11 months between now and artfight 2027, and you'll still see me comin' for ya >:3 just a suggestion of course. my hitlist is solely for the benefit of the form respondents!

comments: this is the second revenge piece i made of the year, and the first in my short-lived string of "holy shit i MADE THAT?!" illustrations for artfight. i love using artfight to experiment with things i haven't tried in my artwork before, and the background level of my drawings is a huge area of growth i'm trying to invest in. when i was looking for characters to draw as revenge for this user, flyfish stood out to me because of their insanely gorgeous design. the colors?! the concept?!?! in. love.
given the character's design being an anthropomorphic flying fish, i was immediately struck with the idea to draw them in a graceful ice skater pose, skimming the ocean with one foot. i spent a good while looking for reference photos that felt suited for the drawing, until i found arguably one of the most complexly-angled poses to draw. but i am BEAST, and i spent my entire morning tracing the figure, then sight copying the figure, then lasso-tooling a final base with the correct character proportions. then i spent the rest of my day rawdogging the final lineart and doing god knows what for the background. the sketch layers i have for this drawing's source file are very cool to flip through, imo. this illustration helped me warm up for the rest of artfight by re-teaching myself how to properly use references, then style them to fit your exaggerated proportion needs.
needless to say, this is one of my highlight attacks for 2026. i may've poorly planned for the background and spoofed the fuck out of it, but the composition is so pleasing regardless, the colors are wonderful, and i love what i ended up going with for the lineart!!! <3

comments: another revenge! this time i went for my "kawaii neko" art style, cuz the character i chose to make artwork for was a kawaii neko. i was putzing around with this drawing, kinda throwing any sketches i could make at the wall to see if i liked em. i ended up going with both the main center drawing + two smaller chibis i made of this character. he's a real cutie and i think i captured him well, though i coulda done a bit better with the outlines on all the character drawings... sorry. i've gotten lazy from how convenient it is to add an outline background to characters in clip studio...

comments: this revenge started out as a simple enough sketch, but i had to put quite the amount of effort in to bring it to completion. i feel like i've been trained in the ways of perspective enough to freehand it decently and use a 1 or 2 point grid... but i'm not perfect. this sketch involved me freehanding the perspective, which gave cute preliminary sketches to work with but took a lot of time to clean up. i'm pretty happy with how this turned out, though! especially the background, which i did not plan for at all, but it looks fine enough lol. i promise to incorporate backgrounds into my sketch phase should i want to have them in the final photo next year... or at least to try...

comments: another kawaii ms paint attack for my friend and its very kawaii sona! i think after spending so much time in more sophisticated art programs, its made drawing in ms paint that much harder to feel confident in... like, i can flip my drawing horizontally to check for posture errors, but if i find any errors i can't easily correct them like i could elsewhere. i actually used windows 11's ms paint recently (something i do not normally have access to) and seeing how they had 360-degree selection rotating made me sooo jelly lol. but this came out cute in the end, i just remember having a lot of insecurities because i couldnt physically give it as much cleaning up as i could other attacks.

comments: tthis attack was high effort, but by far the one i least obsessed over perfecting. something about all the new stuff i was trying shook my brain hard enough i ended up just... doing whatever i felt like without going back on it. the end result stands out the most from my attack lineup for how different it is because of that, i think. which is honestly really nice :-) i had a lot of fun trying out all of what i did for this attack, especially the individual textured brushes seen in this piece. one particular brush i used i had hoped to use as the primary shading brush in one of my attacks, but i never got around to it... buuhuuhuu...

comments: i celebrated uploading my hundredth attack with this revenge! it was for my good friend grey, and i wanted to do something extra-detailed and special for him because of the attack you hopefully watched, liked, and commented on...!!!! this was the only attack where i had direct supervision by the recipient, because i wanted to make sure the drawing i made was exactly was he wanted. this attack makes me super sad i didn't make sure to record timelapses of all my attacks this year, because i think watching the process would show u just how into this art i got.
i recommend if you have some free time that you open this image in a new tab and zoom in on it. just, look at it up close for a lil bit. i rendered a lot of small details i knew weren't gonna be horribly noticeable for the love of the game. also, this attack took me 11 days to finish, but only because i got extremely sick for 1.5 weeks and could only muster an hour's worth of energy every other day to progress this attack. if i didn't have that happen, i reckon it'd have taken me 5 days to complete and i woulda preemptively sketched my next attacks in between spans of working on this one. just had to clear my name.

comments: i'm proud to say that this year, i got brave enough to make my very first animated attack for someone! it's just a simple partial tween, but despite owning a clip studio paint lifetime EX license, i haven't tried using the animation tools very much... that might have something to do with me not following tutorials and overwhelming myself by jumping straight into the animation stuff? but who knows, total mystery. anyway, i took the time to watch some basic tweening tutorials for CSP and used them to do a simple wing flap/arm wave looping animation! once i knew how to actually DO the tweening, working on animating this was surprisingly very fun. needless to say, i'm heavily considering doing more tweened attacks during 2027! (unless i do 2-3 mass attacks for fun WHOSAIDTHAT)

comments: this is a quick revenge i made for my friend, who has SPOILED ME with two short animated attacks of one of my characters over the time we've known each other. i try my very best to avoid speaking poorly of myself or my work in my blogs, but i have to be honest... this was fairly rushed and i wish i could've done more for such a kind friend T~T the art is fine... i really liked finding the pose and drawing a character with a trunk nose... and coloring them in was super fun... i just, dunno... i wish i coulda done an attack more like one of my earlier ones, even though i was still pretty sick at this point and just wanted to cover my revenge bases? there's no reason to beat myself up over about not being able to go further on a game website, lol. but this is definitely giving me motivation to attack this friend ASAP next year so i can do as crazy an attack i want and still have the energy for it. xP

comments: this was a revenge for someone with so many well designed characters, it was very devastating to realize i could only pick one character of theirs to draw for them.. but since it was the day before artfight ended, i decided to pick a character that spoke to me as cute & quick to draw. so pinkie was my pick! i haven't done fullbody artworks where the character just floats on a cute lil background in, ehh, maybe 3-4 years? so it was a nice return to roots. i also got this really nice crayon brush off the clip studio asset store i was DYING to try out, and oh my gosh i love the way it looks in this photo and the way it feels to use in general. one of the things i love most about ms paint is its unique brush collection, and this crayon brush felt like a mix of the natural pencil and crayon brush from ms paint!!! needless to say, LOVE. also i should make art in ms paint with those brushes. its rly time consuming but the craving is there.

comments: ahh, second to last attack for the year here... i didn't have anyone else to revenge at this point, so i got free reign to pick one special character to get an attack! i ended up going with this fella, laces, because they belong to my friend and i haven't attacked him in a couple years, i think. plus, they drew me an attack last year that i didn't get the chance to revenge, so this was like a telepathic late revenge across time and space. i was coming off hot from the previously shown attack, so i wanted to use the crayon brush i found smore. the ways i used it were a liittlleee different to help save time (I MADE THIS THE MORNING OF ARTFIGHT ENDING) which may have reduced the final quality some, but the art is still veri much cute. i also like the way i handled the background in this attack!

comments: and finally, my last attack of 2026... (but not the last attack of this blog theres like two more posts below this) just to round myself to an even 20 attacks for the year, i made a 2-in-1 revenge for my friends as a cute angel and devil giggles. i don't know if i ever explained the whole "giggles" thing, but she's my OC i like to draw emojis of and sometimes reskin her into other characters. so for this attack, i drew two new giggle poses for friends and then reskinned them into the final sonas they were for. i don't plan to draw this type of attack for people often, since it's pretty low-effort compared to what i like to make, but since i was sick i cut myself some slack.

comments: these were the first few attacks i made after my week+ hiatus from drawing and i was struggling to remember how to even draw... ver sad... but i think these all came out purty good regardless?! i used a new set of textured brushes for all these -- top left was a normal shaped brush, but the rest were made with the same calligraphy shaped brush. it took some failed lineart attempts to come around to those two brushes, but i'm very glad i didn't settle for a mediocre result because i LOOOOVEEEE the way these look. the textured brushes felt very "strong" to sketch with, especially the calligraphy brush. i rly enjoy brushes that wear their personality on their sleeve. i also really enjoy the backgrounds i made for the top two drawings!!! especially top left. salmon was very easy to have cool ideas for and its honestly a shame i could only draw a headshot-sized artwork for them...
ALSO 3/4 OF THESE ARE FRIENDS I MADE SPECIFICALLY ON SPACEHEY!!! HI GUYS!!!! I LOVED MAKING DRAWINGS FOR YOU!!!! (smiles warmly)

comments: last but not least, these are all the transformice badge-styled attacks i made! four of these attacks i made at the very beginning of artfight, so putting them at the end of this gallery is very out of order. buuut i didn't wanna put a huge display of drawings altogether at the top of the gallery ehe... anyway, you may know i love the game transformice to DEATH and have been practicing mimicking its badge artwork style for a while now. if there's two things i love doing for artfight, it's attacking small communities i'm a part of and practicing artstuff i want to get better at. sooo, double whammy here!
if you're familiar with how transformice's art looks, you might be able to tell i worked on from earliest to latest. (they're not in perfect chronological order, image 4 came 2-3 weeks after image 5!) i think all of these attacks are really cute, but i learned how to better style the badge effects, and sorta-improved my linework. the real trouble with trying to draw transformice badge artwork for peoples' entire mouse outfits is that the badges are meant to be displayed at...? 40x40 px? something very very small. so they make sure to have extremely bold, varied lineart to make a pleasing illustration that looks good at both the tiny in-game size and the true badge size. unfortunately, i'm still struggling to draw mice with all their accessories while still making the broad strokes of the mouse readable. fortunately, MY artwork is primarily meant to be viewed at full size, so this is just me worrying over how to push myself to perfection.
oh, one more thing -- for whatever reason, i didn't draw all these attacks within the confines of a 1:1 canvas. this is another thing unnecessary for my drawing purposes, but if i want to pursue accuracy in the future, i'll need to do better about setting up my canvas to be a perfect square and coming up with poses that fit those restraints better.

friendrewind note: normally, this gallery has groups of 2 photos in a row, but friendrewind doesn't seem to allow the way i normally implement this... i found a good enough workaround i used for the artfight gallery, but please forgive me that i couldn't be assed to do it here too. won't happen again if i can help it..!
well, that's the end of this entry..! did you lovingly admire every artwork, then read my comments, then admire my artwork some more, and do that for every picture? because i'm not sure i expect anyone to actually do that, so i am very chuffed to know you did. i know it's more fun to quickly stroll by all the art pieces in an art gallery with no stopping for plaques, but i like to think my insight is worth reading sometimes. well, regardless of how you chose to get to the end of my blog, thank you for your stay! i love sharing my art very much.
if you enjoyed your time here, any kudos would be greatly appreciated! and i'll do my best to respond to all comments i receive as well. i'm not in the beeest place physically right now, which does translate to a lower social battery. but your input about my art is just as valued as my own, so i'll make sure to respond to you whenever i can.
alright, i'll see you next time! whenever next time is, anyway.. i'll try to keep blogs as 2-month recaps, but i might also make a 3-month blog again this year so i don't have a blog post that's part-december 2026, part-january 2027. think of the kids! that's too confusing.
