"battle" jacket wip !

hello everyone! it's been a little bit since i've blogged. i just finished sewing up a patch on my "battle" jacket so i thought i'd show you all how it's turning out so far!

for a little bit of context, i got this jacket in early june from jcpenney. it was a bit pricey, but i wanted a high quality jean jacket that would last for a few years easily, and this one does the trick! it's oversized and comfy and super soft, unlike other denim fabrics that itch at my skin ;_;

i started putting patches on it the moment i got home with my brand new jacket because, well, it did look kind of plain without anything and that was always the plan with this jacket. we can call thank my girlfriend eden for the inspiration, although hers is much more different and much more complete (hopefully she shares it through here one day...)

first patch i put on was this one, on the top part of my left sleeve! i use backstitches for most of my patches since i find they are much stronger than a regular running stitch.

the photo is flipped, boo, but it says "songs of my felines" and eden got it for me at a thrift shop near our university campus :-)

next up came my darling flowers on the collar. i can't lift up the collar anymore because then you'll see the mess of string behind it, but it's fine... i think. these i did embroider; the design was relatively simple after all.

daisy on the left side of the collar

sunflower on the right side of the collar

next up came the cuffs of my sleeves! i'm only putting a picture of one since, well, they're both identical. i also embroidered these, and they took the longest to set up due to the amount of detail in each little element. i do think, however, that it paid off in the end.

next up, this wonderful line of beetles on the left side! these are patches i got off etsy, and i adore them dearly. since they were a stick-on patch, the only thing i really sewed were the teeny legs, since the glue wasn't strong enough to hold them down. this might easily be my favorite element of the jacket so far, i think they're so darling :-3

and last, but not least, my most recent patch and the initial reason i started blogging about my jacket! i also got this patch off etsy, from beauchamping (not sponsored or anything, his stuff is really beautiful and i highly recommend you all check him out!). this one went on the top part of my right sleeve, and for now, is the last patch i will be adding.

thank you if you stuck through this entire ramble, it means a whole bunch!

i love you :-)
