# blog 4 // ideas for social media websites + some thoughts on them

hello everyone ⸜( ´ ꒳ ` )⸝  i have a lot of ideas for social media websites. i think nowadays there's a lot of bad social medias that are made for less connection and more isolation (lwk their entire goal... but still!!). i think adding some fun features to the ones that are save-able (letterboxd, pinterest, goodreads, etc.) would be a fun treat :3

your letterboxd "soulmate": i think that letterboxd is a really cool website on its own!! something neat would be like similar to a "wrapped" at the end of the year. (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑) letterboxd should give you your yearly "soulmate", or the person who watched the most similar movies/genres to you during the year, similar amount of movies, and with similar star ratings. that would be super fun, and a great way to make connections in the website :3 

pinterest wrapped + removing ai from the platform, or at least trying to: it'd be cool if they gave you a pinterest wrapped detailing how many pins you saved, when u were most active, what like genre of pins you were saving (landscapes, fashion, funny, etc.) and then building you a yearly pinterest board based off of the vibe of your pinterest this year! ꉂ(˵˃ ᗜ ˂˵) something similar to spotify's yearly playlist. but i doubt this will ever happen, they can hardly even keep ai away from the site. ( ˶°n°) !! they should take more measures to keep ai away from pinterest. it's not *that* bad, but sometimes when i'm searching for stuff and use certain keywords like "fantasy" or "drawing", all i get is ai!! 

goodreads updates: goodreads is a nice website but it seems kinda old-peopley. i use it somewhat often n would like to connect w other people my age who use it!! problem: there aren't many... (ᵕ—ᴗ—) i think some marketing + fun profile customization features would bring more people to the site. specifically, i'd add a highlights page of your favorite books + reviews, as well as a small page where you can add a couple photos of reading-related stuff (your tbr book stack, a pic of u at ur local library, etc).

tumblr marketing: i've had tumblr for a couple years now & no complaints. it's a nice fandom space compared to evils like tiktok or discord. i just think they lwk need better marketing, it can be hard to find others my age & when i do, they end up inactive. with all the 2016-y stuff coming back, i think they could make an easy comeback into popularity with the younger audience given the right marketing <3
