Bugs!! Part 1?

I really like bugs and I think they're so fascinating but there's a particular moth that has been on my mind lately

That is the Baphomet moth, or creatonotos gangis :)

They are a species of arctiine moth originating from Australia and South East Asia. They distribute as far from Indonesia and Queensland and of course more places, such as

• India
• China
• Japan
• Iran
• Sri Lanka
• Thailand
• New Guinea
• Western Australia
• Northern Territory
• And Mackay!

They are infamous as males of this species have particularly large scent glands. (They resemble almost like tentacles) They are tucked inside the abdomen of the male and they inflate to disperse pheromones to attract their potential mates. The mates will be attracted as the hair wafts the odor towards the females to draw them in further

 usually they look like the above image when their scent glands are not exposed

(I'm not sure where to put this,, so I'm just going to put it in pets I'm getting really into moths lately so I might make a post occasionally listing some fun facts about lil critters)
