What is circular fashion?

Circular fashion is a system where clothes and accessories are designed, produced, used, and circulated for as long as possible, then safely returned to nature or recycled rather than being thrown away, unlike the traditional take make waste linear model, circular fashion creates a closed-loop system. It draws principles from the Ellen McArthur Foundation's guidelines on the circular economy.

Why do we need circular fashion?

Every second, the equivalent of a truckload full of rubbish, textiles are burned or buried in landfill. The linear fashion economy means that the end of a textile's life cycle is landfill, landfill is a large contributor in climate change. Landfill is harmful to the environment as it releases Landfill Gas or (LFG), which has high levels of both methane and carbon dioxide. Methane forms as a primary byproduct of microbial breakdown, carbon dioxide is produced alongside methane, this causes heat to get trapped in the atmosphere, contributing to climate change.

How can you aid circular fashion?
