i asked this question to my close friend Katie before -- but i'll ask it to you guys too, because it really got me thinking...
If you guys could immediately get every collectable you've ever wished for from something you're collecting (every cd you want, every anime figure u want, every lps, sylvanian's... whatever floats ur boat), would you be happy? or would it take away from that amazing feeling of searching for something that you really reaaally want, and then that sudden rush of happiness when you finally get it?
because, after all, isn't the whole point of collecting to feel those feelings?-- the sadness when something you were saving for gets sold, the relief when you complete a collection, and how it makes you feel complete-- would you give all of that up, just to complete your collection?
while the idea of having every DVD i wished for, every manga volume, every anime figure, every bit of merch, is so so tempting... i'd feel less of a rush, and more of a "oh, so that's over with then"
basically, what i'm trying to say is that rather than just the collectables, part of collecting is the feelings that come with it.
my answer is-- no, i wouldn't be happy. there'd always be a feeling of emptiness in the back of my mind, like i'd cheated (in the game of collecting? hello idk)
What about you?

mmmm i like this question!!!
i so agree with you though. i love being able to get more collectables, its so fun when you get your next one!! so, as much as id looove to get a whole entire set of something i collect, the process of getting it is the whole reason its exciting soooo i wouldnt wanna skip that process..? its a very interesting question though because id obviously still be happy to have a full collection buttttt that feeling of finding new stuff is pretty much the main part, just like you said!
