I get your concern but I feel like the use case for something like this would be Smartcards for employee and guest Identification in Hotels or Companys much rather than putting your actual ID in there. Some Laptops even have a built in SmartCard reader wich can be very usefull for aditional security in Companys. I doubt that Official Authorities will buy something like this to scan IDs. |

I originally thought it was for companies till I looked on the back and it said "on websites", not necessarily company websites specifically (or I may be saying something dumb cause that can be the case too)

Yeah you can probably use it to scan your actual ID with it to. But I think anyone naive enough to put their real ID in there in the first place probably doesnt give to much thought to privacy anyways. :)
