It feels so refreshing to see so many people here reclaiming the Internet as a place to just be authentic and build connections instead of doomscrolling and going after the views and likes. |

Very well said and also very great taste in music! The internet these days has really put a strain on life. I also like the personal aspect of the older social media like my space and the first myspace. Have you checked out escargot for Aol Instant Messenger and MSN? There is also a server from Phoenix and IM Chat for Yahoo! messenger that kinds pulls all of this corner of the internet together. Back at the end of the 90s everyone hang out during the day and late at night we messaged some stuff and pictures, but no endless scrolling. TV and social interaction was also quite different. Still around today but a shadow of what it was. Thanks for friending me and I look forward to your blog posts. Thank u! I really appreciate that. It’s great to find someone who feels the same way about that era of the internet. There was something really special about those early online communities, they felt more personal and less like everyone was performing for an audience. I actually haven’t tried Escargot or the Phoenix/Yahoo Messenger servers yet, but I love the idea of keeping those old ways of connecting alive. I’ll definitely have to check them out. You’re right about the late 90s and early 2000s, people spent more time actually talking, hanging out, sharing things with friends, and being present. The internet was a place you visited, not something that followed you everywhere. It’s amazing how much has changed.

I completely agree!!! That’s exactly what makes this space feel so special. There’s something really refreshing about being in a community where people show up as themselves, share genuine thoughts, and connect without feeling pressured to perform for an algorithm. It reminds me of what being online used to feel like, more human, more intentional, and a lot more meaningful<333
