hello Georgia !!

i'm from aus too and know exactly what position you are in! back in year 10 i deadass had no idea what to do and ended up doing ATAR subjects all through year 11 and 12. i'll be honest i did switch some classes and dropped from 5 to 4 ATAR subjects because it was a lot of stress! anyway it's insane because i was too anxious to view my score at the end of year 12 so til this day i do not know what i got after 2 years of studying for that score.

there are truly many ways to get into uni for your desired course so please do not stress! i am actually attending uni without my ATAR score ;p there's always a way to do what you want but for now i think you should focus on choosing subjects you find interesting! if you find it interesting i'm sure you will perform better rather than choosing for your desired uni course.

i'm currently studying secondary education in uni and when i teach i would like to encourage students to only choose ATAR if they are set on what they want to do but i understand that there could be external factors to choosing ATAR. some schools do offer the uni ready bridging course for year 11s and 12s which i really recommend if you know a school which offers it! doing a TAFE course in high school may also be beneficial as it can help you get into uni as well!

either way ATAR wasn't so bad i mean i passed all my classes with the most satisfactory effort and it was fun struggling with friends #traumabond. no but truly i found topics in classes interesting either way so it's definitely worth giving a shot!

don't stress too much because there are many pathways to get into a course you want in uni! also a reminder there is no rush, as we've all probably heard, the compass was invented first because direction was more important than time

i wish you all the best Georgia! you got this!! sorry for the long ass comment ;-;

OMG you're so sweet. Thank you so much for this message, I really appreciate it. My parents have been telling me to pick subjects I enjoy not stuff that will give me a high ATAR so you are definitely right and I feel a little more confident now going into subject selection times. <3
