1 think about what song you gonna make rap ,rock ,love ,sad etc 

2 listen song like song you wanna write 

3 think about thinks  that happen in your life 

4 write ,erased ,until sound cool or make sense ,and sing because song isn't about lyrics some time but about voice .

im not exactly a professional but i usually start by finding a scale to use, then i mess around with chords until i find a progression that sounds nice !! 
as for tabs, using the same notes from ur chords is a good place to start

play around with patterns and rhythms ! Keep it simple cuz usually simple sounds better hehe
