I'd just like to say first, that if you're truly suffering from misogyny, that I'm sorry that you had to go through that. No one deserves to be treated rottenly over their gender. That being said though, I think you're misguided about men. One of the reasons you might feel that men have it easier than women is because you're comparing yourself to men who have already figured themselves out, which is a bad perspective to have since you're leveraging that onto men who are still struggling. It's not just women being shat on for their sex. In a way it's worse because there's no activism against misandry like there is against misogyny. And I don't buy this idea that ours is invalid just because of power politics, since that's the common excuse for it. Men also have 'something to prove' when it comes to their sex. 'Not being man enough' is a common insecurity men have, since we're expected to be the providers and security to those around us. I don't know if we get praised for sleeping around anymore? I've certainly been raised to treat unchastity as an deeply immoral act, but If it's still around then that's not right. I mean, you shouldn't confuse the behavior of a group of men as the attitude that all men have. A lot of men hate that kind of behavior, and don't approve of it. If the men around you don't hate it, then they should be shamed and embarrassed for sleeping around. Unchastity is something to be ashamed of on both sides. I don't think we live on easy mode either, since we all have our own complications. But I think it's fair to say that men don't have it any easier than women do, we just have different problems. To speak on solidarity, I'll just say that I think that it's a troublesome thing. Not because of what it asks for, I understand that, but because getting a whole of society to be on your side is rather unrealistic and burdensome. Like you really think complete strangers will be on your side just because you happen to be the same sex as them? Despite what you may think, men don't have as much gendered solidarity as you may believe, this world is individualistic and opportunistic, and that doesn't change depending on your sex. Male solidarity is also looked down upon, since men are belittled for asking for help from society. Like, why are my feelings invalid simply because other men do bad things, or because other men have more money, or any other combination of excuse? Now, about the goalie thing. I don't know if the goalie was a guy or not, since that's what you seem to be stressed about, but whether or not they were a guy, laughing at them like that makes you the asshole. Sorry, I don't tolerate that attitude, that makes you a jerk. Especially with you calling them a little bitch. (I don't know where you're getting the 'praised for dancing around in a dress' idea. Unless that's sarcasm or something. I don't know what you mean by that.) |

#trve i've noticed its a lot easier to make friends as a male .... and that female celebrities get criticized a lot more often!!! i agree with this it seems like all the guys get along by default but girls have these strict social circles and rules based on how you dress, act, etc... Also it's definitely true that female celebrities get soooo much more criticism about their appearance, personalities, etc. |
