can your machine handle picom? cuz if not, then no propa v-sync for ya
it's been days since i've touched my thinkpad... and all because of that...
i mean, i think so? it's a lenovo m710s with 16 gigs of ram so it's not like a total shitbox. (not sure what v-sync means in this context, it's a gaming term to me) my weird problems did go away when i switched off of mate, though now i'm dealing with shit being broken under wine and some other mild annoyances. (i really really wish i knew how to set up 7-zip file manager on linux because it is my preferred archiving tool and everything else feels like a nightmare). i'm either having cachy problems or wine problems.
admittedly i use linux more out of just an immense anger towards microsoft. if i could set up a 64 bit windows vista install that had all the proper firewalls or whatever so i don't get viruses there is a very high chance i would just do that instead.
v-sync prevents screen tearing, but also adds delay
theoretically if your machine is fast enough it can compensate it with fps, but that's like 250+ or smth like that
for me linux was always like: it can do it but you have to sit and set it up properly, tho that really depends on the distro, the only one i actually used was arch so...
