I'm heavy with you, dude. We need to start going back to the past. I've spent the past 2 or so years chasing for what the 00s were. And these are my 3 key principles (which I should probably post somewhere for people to see):

#01 Nothing is perfect, so re-learn to be imperfect.ย

Ever since social media became our main form of communication and entertainment, we have this compulsion to be perfect. You can tell if you compare an old lip sync video from 2010 to now. The older video would be full of more energy and expressiveness, and now it's just somebody lip-syncing barely showing any emotion. You can see it by how "perfect" the makeup trends have gotten and by how static posing for cameras have been.

Think of all your learned behavior, and throw that all away. That is your KEY TO HAPPINESS (*ยดโˆ€๏ฝ€*)

#02 don't try to put yourself in a box.

It's tempting, isn't it? So many aesthetics and labels... perfectly fitting you (in the moment.) But the truth is, this whole idea was a recent idea pushed during the pandemic. Back then, you either were a part of a subculture or you weren't and had your own style. Aesthetics mean nothing. Subcultures do. If you aren't a part of a subculture, you're better off having your own style than a silly "aesthetic."

#03 Become what you wanna be. Anything can happen~

Oftentimes, I see people in comment sections on various social media saying "I want to be X style, but Y..." Unfortunately, social media has conditioned us to be concrete thinkers. People are discouraged to take action. Afraid to step out the norm, even if they already are out the norm. If you wanna be something, BE SOMETHING FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST! Stop letting silly things stop you. And another way I mean this is to dedicate yourself into the thing that you love. Don't just dress a certain way, let your style BECOME YOUR LIFE, and that is my MOST IMPORTANT PRINCIPAL OF THEM ALL.

This was a long rant, but I hoped this help you think a bit differently! ^^

Aww, thanx!ย
