i hate how normal it is for some people to romanticize eating disorders :/ i agree!! it literally ends up killing some people, and it needs to be taken more seriously :( by โงโห โ ๐ก๐ค๐ก๐ค_๐ก๐ค๐ค๐ฅ๐จ๐ฎ โงโห โ ; (edited); Report |
yeah, thanks for correcting me, that makes more sense!ย
daniel johns is the vocalist and guitarist for a 90's band called silverchair. when he was 18 at the end of 1997, he stopped eating, not because of his looks, but to gain "control" over his life, which was very overwhelming for him at the time. by mid 1998, he was isolating himself at home and weighed 110 pounds ( at his height and age, he shouldโve been between 130-175 pounds). it was at this time that his family doctor diagnosed him with anorexia and warned him that he was going to die if he didnโt stop. by 1999, he was still very thin, but during the middle-end of the year, he started recovering and came out to the public about his struggles with the song โana's song (open fire)โ!

ohh ok i understand. i see y you'd avoid seeing that, as seeing ur idols in a bad headspace can be rlly damaging (for example, (on a much lesser scale) i avoid seeing pics of rivers cuomo performing during pinkerton bcuz he looks sad during it). although, i also understand the ppl making the edits, they could've js been unaware that was what was going on during that time (esp cuz being skinny is idealized in rock bands cuz it encourages the "scary in an edgy way" archetype). they also culdve js liked the music or performances frum that era and wanted 2 make edits of it, not necasarilly ignoring it, js not mentioning it.
