I felt this so deeply. You are definitely not crazy or beyond help, your brain just needs specific, fandom-centered novelty to overcome executive dysfunction, and generic apps just don't cut it for you. It's completely valid that standard systems fail you! Please don't beat yourself up right before university start. Building a system that fits you takes trial and error, but the fact that you keep searching proves how determined you are. You've got this. |

these kinds of apps/routine builders have never worked for me as i do basically everything based off vibes and only make snap decisions (i know that sounds like a great lifestyle) but i do wonder why you would struggle with self-care? (i do not mean this in a derogatory way, genuinely asking) to me it seems like you only need a reminder of the tasks you want to carry out during the day, as the rest is really just up to you, no? i like to believe you have full control over whatever it is that you do, especially given the introspection i see here either way, maybe someone else could help you build routine, maybe a goal or a specific purpose will motivate you to do more and maybe you'll find an app that finally works??? this has been Pretty Fun to read through and i'll stick around to see where it goes Thank you very much for your kindness. I suspect I struggle with demand avoidance and executive dysfunction. I've always thought a strict regime would be the best for me, where I had tasks set in stone so that the day could not proceed without punishment or loss of a reward, something that was impossible to ignore. Even when I am in physical and mental discomfort I struggle to switch my poor habits with good ones, causing me to suffer long term. I think if I somehow craft the perfect system that is cute, consistent, and punishing (if that makes sense) I will finally change my wicked ways and become a functioning person. All in all, thank you for commenting. by unseencoping; ; Report what if i believe in you to be able to be as functional as you desire? what if change doesn't have to wait for the 'perfect' system to be made? i honestly think you have it in you to make do with what is available and keep routine, even if said tools are lacking in some aspects. i'm not saying you should stop 'using it as an excuse' but rather i think that no tool will be good enough, causing the goalpost to move every time.. |
Thank you very much for your kind words, I felt crazy that nothing was working for me.
