I'm turning 29 and have felt the same way. I think the reason nostalgia became so painful for me is because I lost a lot of my old support system. I don't think humans are meant to be moving around and as isolated as modern society has come to accept. Once I've built up a home and family again, I think life will start to feel more like childhood. We didn't enjoy our childhoods because we were chasing the past, we simply enjoyed them in the moment and we could experience that because we felt secure to do so. That's a future I continue to want to work towards. And if I have kids, I want them to have a place they know isn't going anywhere. |
