I absolutely agree with this and yeah hopefully over time we could keep the community around here very chill and wholesome just like how it is so far. I've said this several times before here one of the reasons why I absolutely enjoy it here is the lack of controversial and toxic topics being brought up and discussed and brought up here like Political Topics that's absolutely stressful. And most people here are just posting wholesome and chill stuffs both on Blogposts and Forums. Hopefully people could keep that up here. Because on Major Social Network Websites like "Facebook" these kind of stuff is just being pushed right into my face no matter how I try to avoid it and "Curate" my Algorithm. But here it's just already chill and you don't have to do anything other than just be chill and go relax how it already is. But yeah, hopefully everyone would try to keep it this way. |

i really agree with this!!! keeping the community fun and friendly is a shared effort from every person in said community! i'm not too active on friendrewind cuz spacehey is still my main and after being on there for years, i'm still having a great time :) i'd say it's purely becuz i decided to surround myself with people i actually like, people who post on their bulletins and actively interact with each other. a lot of people complain about toxic people on spacehey, but there's no shortage of mean people on any social media really! it's up to you to curate your experience. in my personal experience, i've never encountered any mean people on spacehey 🤷 it's really a shame that spacehey is getting such bad rep, when it's genuinely still a great site despite all its jankyness (and i'm not gonna lie, i've grown to love the jank). it's just NOT like Tiktok or Instagram or any modern social media these days. the things you like aren't going to be served to you on a platter by an algorithm. you gotta look for your community yourself!! and i fear that a lot of people who complain about spacehey being "dead" just didn't care to put much effort in finding their people. anyway!! super great post!!!! deserving of 2 kudos in my book! I was on SpaceHey for a few years too and really loved it! Sadly, it seems to be dying from attrition, but ONE thing's for sure! i'm gonna weigh in here since a chunk of complaints in that thread are directed towards me. which is unsurprising tbh since i did do a fair bit of trolling on spacehey, after all. that being said, this is a fresh slate here for me, and has been for a month. i've genuinely got no further reason to nitpick at users of spacehey/napo and nobody on here seems to be problematic - friendrewind is genuinely the cozier of all the myspace inspired indieweb platforms and i'd genuinely love for things to stay that way. Goat, I'm glad you popped in. Yeah, your trolling on SpaceHey was bad. Unkind, and uncalled for. I am so very happy to hear you stand up and say "yeah, that was not great of me." I'm all for debate as well, but debate is not what I'm talking about! In particular, all of these sites seem to have collectively said "We're not interested in politics", I am grateful to say. Since in this day and age, it seems impossible to debate on those topics without it descending into toxicity almost immediately! So what are we debating here? Favorite bands or whatever? Fine! Great! But this blog post is about bullshit. Trolling, scamming, spamming, bullshit. And racist, 'phobic type bullshit. And the gore, edgelord, porn bullshit. Have seen very little on this over here, and I hope we can keep an eye out for each other on this! "Cozy', I think, is an apt description! by Cranky Old Witch; ; Report what most people seldom realize when witnessing a flame war erupting on a comment section, is that there are always two sides to the story. very recently, i shared my side of events, both on here and spacehey. i said my peace and left it at that. i don't particularly envision myself flogging a dead horse for eternity, lol. as for all the gorespam and really wretched shit that plagued spacehey though - i still maintain that anton scrapping his half dozen mods and leaving his website to be governed by an ai thing to be a truly terrible idea and unless that changes, spacehey is only going to get worse for it. In the meantime, I already have my regrets about even mentioning SH in this blog, and I might edit that (but I'd leave the comments, of course). I guess I just wanted context for the motivation of the post and hope that the focus is much more on building and keeping positive community.
