YES YES YES THIS! When I watched the film I thought it was heavy handed at time and then I saw the response and realised that without a youtube video explaining the ending nobody knew what it was about!! Mary has a whole monologue about being stuck in one place mentally and then the film follows it up with her being stuck in place physically.Β I really liked your explanation of the scenes. This is honestly one of my favourite movies of the year and it killed me that people have no idea how to interact with art if there isn't some third party.Β I am a fucking film critic! If someone would get off their fat fucking algorithms and help me!!!Β |

No seriously I feel like the media literacy rate has dropped tenfold in the last 20 years. nobody can see the forest through the trees anymore.Β It's crazy to me when somebody calls the backrooms pointless or boring because it is one of the most tightly written movies I've watched with some of my favorite visuals I've seen in a while. YES!!!!!!! This!!!!! People literally cannot digest media anymore unless it's less than a minute long and dumbed down to the absolute max. Anything with substance is called boring and drawn out because no one has the capacity to think anymore. Backrooms is one of the best written films I've watched in a hot minute but it came at a time when the average person's ability to comprehend has dipped to an all time low. It makes me so angry |

Fully agreed!! People have become completely reliant on having everything hand fed to them and it's exhausting. Everyone has lost the ability to just. Sit and listen!!! But I'm glad there's at least a few folks out there that are still able to understand good writing when it rears its head. Ty for reading! :3
