you should def learn how to sew/alter clothes u already have, try talking to ur mom abt taking u thrifting as a bday gift or convince her to take u if u do good in school etc, and tell her thrfiting is better for the enviornment unlike fast fashion, ik its probably hard to change her mind but just keep trying n tell her it can be just as cheap as fast fashion! you could also try shopping on depop, ebay, etsy, vinted and marketplace even. Another way is going to any local garage sales! try being on the look out for those!Β But if you rly cant then just try to work with the clothes u already have, u rly just need skinny jeans and graphic t's to start. U can also DIY many accesories, they dont require much to make especially necklaces and bracelets. Hair clips are also relatively easy to make, there are soo much tuts on tiktok for scene/emo diy accesories! you could also diy studded belts, seriously diy'ing can take u rly far! HAIRR is super important as well, honestly more important than anything else. Most scene/emo ppl in the 2000s cut their own hair with leg razors or any scissors, and there are many tutorials on yt or tiktok!Β |

You can start with your hair, especially since it's the signature look for both subs. Whether it's straight, wavy, curly or coily, a side-swept fringe is easy to do, even without hairspray. :3 Since you don't have many options, there's no harm in wearing fast fashion brands, especially when some people shop at charity shops or jumble sales and are still completely consumerist. |

You could try recommending reseller apps 2 her like vinted or depop, there's scenemo stuff on there. Also ik ross has some suuuper cool clothes 4 good prices, so you could ask her to take u there one day^_^ |

im not really scene/emo but you can definitely customize your clothes by altering them or sewing a whole new shirt! or just sewing on charms and paint on your clothes?? i dont know what else to say sorryy!! |
