i suppose this is the worst (or best, depending on the level of narcissism) version of being lonely at the top, where you are great, but also the only one who knows it, as it is also the only version that isn't immediately obvious or measurable as opposed to for example extreme wealth

though i have to ask, should most people really start 'reading more' (be more open minded)? or do you just happen to be one of few outliers who have strayed from simple animal life? cause if you look at every creature on this planet barring humans, i really doubt you would find a curiosity as exaggerated as ours. and i think that as long as we keep living the way we do, people will want to keep this dogmatic approach to just about anything (No i don't think this is a good thing as i'm not currently a tech billionaire and Yes i know i just super contradicted myself)

maybe everyone is, is becoming, or was a zombie. there is very little denying that—but maybe that is simply what we are supposed to be. maybe 200 more years of the flynn effect will still have us end up the same, but does that really matter? even if we end up as brains in a jar, will it really matter as long as we're happy? God i feel like the biggest pseudointellectual ever posing a question like that BUT you know looking smart or informed wasn't what i was going for

you are so right. this is trump's america and the outcome that we're living in right now is benefiting people like him. people don't want to learn anymore, they're not curious anymore, and whenever they see a person reading it's considered being "performative." wanting to gain intelligence is not performative and it's something everyone should be doing. we see less and less imagination being used as AI is becoming mainstream. where are all of the movies with original ideas? where is the sense of humor? everybody is a carbon copy of one another and they have no sense of self. it's concerning whenever i'm online and people don't know the difference between their, there, and they're, and when you point it out you're "being annoying" because it "doesn't matter." it matters.

very well said.

im curious what your thoughts are on the future of AI and literature, or really art in general. i feel like arts will mostly be protected by the people that truly care about it, and that people will have a craving for genuine expression. what are ur thoughts?

totally!!! i think we’re already seeing this a bit, people are going to be valuing authentic human-made products more even if they aren’t necessarily the best or most technically impressive.

then again we still have tons of authors trying to get by publishing AI books and succeeding so.. it’s a conflict for sure, between people who want easy money and people who want enjoyable art. i always hope the latter wins lol
