Perhaps its attached to find my phone?

Alternatively if youve ever connected to your computer, via phone link, i believe there is also a find phone option. 

Now idk if either of these work if the phone is dead. 

I would retrace my steps, and also look in the dumbest places you can think of (i.e. freezer, under the toilet, in a cabinet)
