1st disclaimer: I honestly agree with everything you have mentioned and I’m glad you are one of the smarter ones that sees beyond this garbage in the education system. So I’m here to elaborate and share my viewpoint too.

2nd disclaimer: Yes, I do screw up between their and they’re sometimes and you will see that during this post. Don’t crucify me. That is the only real thing I do wrong. Also, if you do find subtle grammar mistakes, I apologize in advance. At least I can read without any difficulty and write. I also have a brain unlike most people.

3rd disclaimer: Might of saw grammar mistakes in some of the post you made but honestly, who gives a fuck? You convey an important message and point and that is what truly matters.

Honestly, I hate to say it but I believe certain boards of education in certain states or countries are doing this on purpose. I’ve been doing research and have listened a lot to my family, who are very successful and kind-hearted people, and this sort of thing has been going on for a very long time. Believe it or not, I believe it’s a good part a political thing and I don’t want to get too far into that because I’m not sure where you stand with that so I’ll leave that there. There’s so many reasons behind why things are the way they are and I’m going to list them. It’s going to be a lot of stuff so just a heads up.

1. Modern day parenting

So many parents fall flat when it comes to raising their own for so many different reasons. When anyone raises their son or daughter, you should give them the most attention you can in regards to everything(Love, creating good habits, getting them into good hobbies, helping them understand people and the world around them, etc). I agree with the fact that due to the advancement of technology, social media, and whatever else, it has dumb down not only the parents but the kids too. Most parents rather shove a tablet in front of their 1 year old and call that parenting. That is honestly the most pathetic thing I’ve seen with a majority of parents. It is just another way for the parents to not want to be bothered as they go into another room and do whatever is apparently something way more important than interacting with a kid of their own. It just disgusts me. At least my parents were more traditional and actually cared way more to make sure I lived a great life and grew up passed the struggles of a lot of issues at birth. This era is just filled with so much laziness and lack of responsibility. It truly is frightening and these are the type of people that shouldn’t have kids. This is why you see all these kids in your school struggle and have no clue what to do with themselves. These types of parents rather dump off they’re kids and let the teachers do all the work. Even the teachers are garbage and that is my next reason.

2. Lackluster teachers/the education system as a whole

So much shit I have to cover on this one. I get that a teacher’s salary is literal crap, but I feel that even if you paid a majority of these teachers a good salary, they would still suck just as hard. For example, look at a lot of the inner city schools. Most of the students never even attended and the teachers were worried more about getting shot or beat the hell out of than actually teaching. Most of the schools in certain cities shut down due to poor attendance, violence, record low academics, and just passing these misfits so that they can just get the hell out. It’s disgraceful and you will learn a lot about sociology if you haven’t already. Plus if we even get into county schools, a lot of these students get coddled and are not properly corrected on the mistakes that are made for any reason. In my belief, school is not a learning environment anymore. It is just a place to just put your kids at this point. Nothing more and nothing less. Been seeing a lot of teachers impose tons of beliefs that have nothing to do with teaching at all. You don’t throw sexuality around kids in a damn school let alone there are books in the school libraries that should not be there for any reason and I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about. Kids are sponges and even though I’m older and still not exactly fully mature, let people discover on their own what they are into. That involves sex and anything that truly mixes with having your own healthy opinion on. Certain teachers impose crap like this and are the same people that if you have an independent thought and challenge the literal bullshit of the education system, they will do whatever it takes to shame you and make all the complacent brainwashed kids mock you. This is literal grooming and singling you out as a threat to their personal agenda. Even though you mentioned complaceny(Also is in the guise of laziness and pure brain control), this thing is far more sinister than just kids not being able to read or write and make excuses for it. Teachers need to just teach fundamentals and what they are meant to teach and stop spewing the personal bias bullshit that has nothing to do with the subject they are even teaching. I’m just going to leave it there. 

3. Poor Genetics

Believe it or not, men and women are not created equal and I’m not talking in a sexist or racist way. I’m talking about that certain kids that are born have a higher chance of being successful than others based on the abilities and the mental capabilities of the parents. Simply put: You have a child who is born from a motivated mother and father who are very responsible and have a good IQ(IQ can be subjective but you see where I am going with this) and you have a higher chance of that child to have the same traits. If you have a child and the parents are irresponsible, lazy, and whatever negative traits you can think of, there is a high chance that the kid will also have those exact traits. I know that there is wild cards in genetics but I’m not focusing on that. At the end of the day, you are going to learn that certain people can’t get out of their own way and will forever have tunnel vision. You are very lucky that you are not like the majority cause honestly, the majority sucks and we both know it. We are not sheep unlike most of the kids you deal with at school. There are just people that exist that have too many strikes against them and just default to doing nothing. Also sucks that the economic system is not designed to truly help someone even if they are aware of the shortcomings they have. It’s either you have parents that are well off and can pay the insurance costs to get you cognitive or mental help or the kid just falls through the cracks. Brief story to mention that yes I was blessed with good genetics but I had a ton of trade-offs. I was literally born and deemed retarded due to not having a fully developed brain, had severe speech issues and spent most of my life in speech therapy. I also had a bad case of social anxiety and did not grasp concepts. Doctors tried to convince my parents to get me on SSI and they refused and said that our child deserved better and can amount to more. Now I’m way better just because my parents never gave up on me and personally if I had a generic modern family instead, I’d be sitting in my room all day not amounting to anything. So I had a ton of strikes against me and after I got a lot better, I never used any of my issues to this day as an excuse or to justify a shitty point. That’s why I want to turn my attention to Mr. Vulkdonut and why they fall short fall short despite having serious strikes against them too. 

4. People like Vulkdonut

Personally I don’t care if I misspelled this person’s name cause honestly, this person is part of the reason why things are the way they are now and we can’t have more of this type of thinking. I’m going to dissect and paste responses that this person made that were just pure laziness, excuses, and on the plain of being complacent. Any other response I don’t quote, is due to being actual acceptable answers. So here goes:

So first off we can see that this guy is easily offended and didn’t get the message of what you were trying to convey. So many people blur the line of confidence and ego. All you were trying to do was point out that you honestly wanted your peers to excel just like you are and that you were just so frustrated with the non stop excuses and bullshit that you hear on a daily basis. At the end of the day, if you are going to a school that is a public school(or isn’t cause I’m not sure what school you are in) and are doing very well in it, wouldn’t it be sad to see a bunch of others struggling and you are one of the rare few that are actually doing way better? The part that causes you and I to get pissed off is not solely cause they are struggling. It’s the excuses they make and the sheer lack of ambition to better themselves on top of the fact that teachers let this slide and coddle them for “trying their best”. This is the kind of garbage to why the education system has lowered the academic standards to almost the absolute bottom and this is why they are teaching acceptance over excellence. Furthermore, and to bury donut’s sensitive emotional bias and immaturity, I rather have a person that wasn’t truly the nicest but gave it their all to make sure that I was 100% taken care of and that they were truly skilled in whatever they did versus a soft-spoken all around nice person that only gives 50% towards you and wasn’t fully equipped to help get you to the next level. This is the sensitive culture we have to sometimes live around because people like donut rather pick apart emotions and get all offended than actually understand what the actual service or point that is being offered or talked about. Donut suffered through 7th grade due to mental illness and that is why they couldn’t grasp reading. Look, I get that mental illness is a serious deal and that I also suffer from it, but mental illness honestly(in my opinion and personal experience) has nothing to do with not being able to read. Unless you had the cognitive issues I had at birth, have a case of severe autism, or are just incapable of basic human functioning, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to read or struggle with reading. Like i mentioned before, I was born and deemed retarded by actual doctors despite them being shitty ones. Yet, I was able to eventually read at an advanced level when I got to 7th or 8th grade. So what is donut’s excuse at the end of the day? I knew a ton of people who struggled with mental illness and they were able to read just fine. Donut is the type of person that will eat something that just came out of the microwave piping hot, try to take a bite, burn themself,  and blame the microwave afterwards despite the amount of heat and steam coming from the plate. Just stop with this pushover and blaming everybody else mentality. It’s embarrassing.

Hello Ilinca (awesome name)! I understand your post and I understand the frustration, because i have - and do currently share the same frustrations. I graduated this year and I'm also in a different country, but the issue remains. I can't speak for how it may be in the uk, but I remember throughout all my years I kept getting frustrated with the people around me and their lack of care and effort in the subject, which was mainly out of concern for the future. I also struggled in school, but I never once complained about having to read a single paragraph because it was too much of a hassle. 

My frustration lies less with the students now, and more with the education system and parents at home. I love your passion in the subject! It really gives me hope. 

although, as well as a high schooler, seeing peers our age struggle with reading and everything else within the range of English is frustrating, it's important to realize that people have different abilities, strengths, and issues. 

The school system does though partake in the reason why reading and comprehension skills have worsened throughout the years. The make of technology and social media definitely have been a great contributor to the worsening of it.
