I've never even played halo myself but I do want to experience the original trilogy though I was born in 2005. I've seen a ton of deep dive and documentary videos about the marketing of halo 3 and was in awe- going all out for a spectacular ending to a halo original trilogy. It looked so fun just seeing people gather together and explaining to new people about the lore and why halo 3 was such a big deal. They really did go all in with the advertising at the time.

Though as of today's games I don't think I can see that happening ever again. Mainly because of money and how companies want to go down the cheap route nowadays- and also because of the 'you will own nothing and be happy' mindset that most of them have nowadays. The closest thing I can see to this marketing is maybe GTA VI, but then again I have 0 idea how they're gonna pull that off. Especially with the insane amount of leaks that keep happening again and again and again.

Honestly i could see grand theft auto coming close in the advertising department, but i doubt we will ever get anything close to halo 3 with the buildup and midnight release, especially with how physical is being killed. But there is no way we will see everything like that with halo again with how it's been handled. Can't really say that much about the 343 games though as ive only really played 4 and i thought it wasn't great

gta vi could be better than V in whatever category it wants

but it will never have people waiting in line for it to come into the stores, how people felt like they laid their hands on the greatest thing ever

the hype was there

and those moments will never be lived by the next generation
