To change icons you would have to first have little custom icons yourself, then inspect element on the icons (right click and then dev tools, then select inspect element). It will tell you what the element is and where it's tucked.

The name of the class is usually the most important since you use name/class of said site elements to change them. 

I think these icons are just called icons, or typed in CSS -> .icon

And you can even change the online status flashing thing, which is -> .status-gif

But for the icons, try inspecting them and confirm their class, bc you can override the site's og elements with the !important tag on your layout's CSS stylesheet.
