I joined the emo/alt scene online and locally when I was 14 and since then have completely moved on. So many toxic individuals. Left and figured out my mental health. Now I just listen to the music and mind my own.

Agreed, so long as you're happy and comfortable thats all that matters !

When I was younger I fell into the trap of having to do all the things to fit in and be a part of what I wanted to be. I put my hair in my face and try to straighten it even though I hated it and didn't wear any colors when I wanted to and tried to change my interests to more align with 'alt' things. I felt bad for liking lighthearted or 'childish' media. I wanted to fit in with the other alternative people I knew and my cousin who was way more into the fashion at me. Now at me. Now at 25 I don't worry I am perceived as, i am happy to be just as I am and I hate peer pressure with a passion. I care about being comfortable and having fun first and foremost. It's really sad to me that subcultures that are based in self expression fall into the trap of needing to perfectly fit a label and cultural expectations.

Its so easy to fall into , I did too when I was 12 , im just glad you're ok now tho and love comfortably as thats all that matters ! Being yourself ^-^
