Honestly, I don't think you have to know for sure right now. 😭 Being ace is more about experiencing little or no sexual attraction, and wanting romance/intimacy doesn't contradict that at all. You can crave being loved, cuddling, kissing, spending your life with someone, etc. while not actually wanting sex. Also, liking or reading sexual stuff in fiction doesn't automatically mean you're sexually attracted to people IRL. Fiction and real-life attraction can be completely different. I'd probably ask yourself whether you actually look at someone and think “I want to have sex with them,” versus “I want to be close to them, cuddle them, kiss them, and feel loved by them.” If it's mostly the second one, you could definitely be somewhere on the ace spectrum. And if you're not sure whether it's asexuality or commitment issues, that's okay too. You don't need to prove you're ace before using the label. You can just say you're questioning and see how you feel over time. 🫶 |
