I HATE THIS SHIT UGH!!!! I love when I find boys who don't make racist, sexist, queerphobic, and rape jokes bro, and I love being friends with them!! But the moment I sit next to my boy friend in church: "Awww are y'all a couple??" NO actually, the rest of my youth group are assholes and he's the only accepting one bruh AND I'm not really that attracted to men 

And obviously people will think it weird of me to say that I love him... But I do!!! He's such a good friend. And he wouldn't have a crush on ME bc he is loyal to his girlfriend, but nobody seems to understand that

Anywho, I wholeheartedly agree with you bruh it really is the heteronormativity and it's very upsetting that boys and girls will avoid each other because they're scared of being romanticized 💔 or in my friend at church's case, he's just called gay bc he only hangs out with the girls (um probs bc the boys have made horrendous jokes around him, including ones about ICE and he's literally Hispanic)

Another point worth raising is how they treat children's "couples". I don't know, a six-year-old girl and boy have a lovely platonic bond, and everyone says they're cute and would make a lovely couple, but when it's two six-year-old boys or two six-year-old girls, everyone loses their minds saying "they're just children"

I've got a lot of female friends, and the way older people talk about it is so disgusting it makes it sound like a harem. For God's sake, we're not Japanese
