Hello! So, being straight, by definition, is a sexuality, but not part of the LGBTQ community. In fact, the reason why straights aren't in the LGBTQ community is because LGBTQ is a term reserved to queer people (queer originally meaning "weird" now describes people with sexualities different than the "social norms"), LGBTQ people are being persecuted, hated, and considered illegal in certain countries by certain people BECAUSE they are queer, while being straight is see like a privilege, the norm, "what is right". Straight people as a group does not get persecuted for their sexuality, therefore, they are not part of the LGBTQ+ community, because not only the term is to include all queers into a safe place, but it also means that they actively fight against the persecutions and discriminations. You have to be queer to be LGBT. Hope it helps! |
