The logic behind it is just like it was back in the MySpace days before the dark times of facebook and then Instagram and TikTok...

basically The more friends you have, the more you're exposed to their status posts and updates and have more interesting people to read and see their stuff, it's not like Facebook or Instagram where you're "friends maxing" for no reason because 99.999% of what you see is corporate garbage, paid ads and AI algorithms anyway. 

The more friends you have here the more interesting and diverse your experience gets. you get to control what and who you see, and that's a beautiful thing!
