valid, this might be weirdly specific but i hate social media that lets you comment with a sticker/gif (like tiktok and instagram) because i swear NO ONE says anything of substance! its just a horde of reaction images and gifs. its also really annoying how prevalant ragebait and trolling is, and how many people fall for it. |

social media is not much different from real life in this aspect |

Every major social media sucks. People just keep overusing the terms "larp" and "corny" over EVERYTHING and you can't even say something without worrying about getting doxxed. Also, AI slop is everywhere and it pisses me off so badly cause wdym people like watching stolen art regurgitated by a soulless computer? People's attention spans are so fried nowadays they can't pay attention to something for more than 10 seconds without getting distracted. It genuinely scares me. |

I think social media has ruined human connection to some degree. Yes, it's enhanced it like never before, but since it's low pressure and usually anonymous, people aren't afraid to speak their mind about things. It's just gotten increasingly worse over the years, and I think TikTok is DEFINITELY the culprit here. TikTok has some of its pros, but it doesn't outweigh the cons for me. It's just such a messy app in so many ways and people fail to realize that. Every comment is the same, the trends are the same, everything is just a copy of something else. People have forgotten how to be imaginative, and when that rare person DOES show up, suddenly THEY'RE the trend. It's rewarding for the person, but I'm just so tired of seeing it... I'm tired I'm tired. I just don't think short form content is for me. I prefer YouTube because it actually requires innovation and makes me think. Also the exception for this is the larp channels they're so awesome |
It kind of is. People IRL are more commonly respectful than not. When someone has a screen separating themselves from another, it takes the pressure off to be respectful because internally, they are probably thinking "they can't do anything to me if I say something wrong. This won't affect me." While there will always be kind people online and IRL, you can't deny that this isn't a reoccurring thing. This is why cyberbullying can become a genuine criminal offense when taken too far. It's a different kind of bullying that can't really happen in person.
