antisemitism went back basically since Judaism has been conjured, it was crazy in medieval time Europe

this was in romania, he is the national poet of romania. Mihai Eminescu, basically romanian shakespeare or smth.
He was right wind and super nationalist like he changed his surname to sound "more romanian" he was really against jewish people " "the Jew does not deserve any rights anywhere in Europe because he is not working"

Yes and no, at the time in like the 1880's or smth romania was trying to ally with austria-hungary, a part of austria-hungary belongs to romania or atleast at the time alot of ethnic romanians lived in parts of austria-hungary, Mihai being super nationalist was against it, calling for a true united romania and wrote in his own newspaper anti-imperialist sentiment against austria-hungary which would've made that alliance a little more rocky, later on in the 1900's the government started heavily pushing him, especially during romania's communist government

i forgot to mention that because of that anti-imperialist sentiment. The government put him in a psych ward 😭

oh ya I could see why his writings might have stired the pot a bit for that alliance, also ya i can see the comunists getting a bit upset about that, but oof a psych ward in the 1900... not a good time
