I think a lot of people who engage in this kind of edgy or shocking content seem to be looking for some form of belonging, identity, or recognition. Some of them might be people who feel isolated, who have been bullied, who fantasize about revenge against those who hurt them, or who come from environments where their emotional needs were neglected. That doesn't make the behavior acceptable, of course, but this also doesn't doesn't mean everyone who consumes this content is secretly dangerous. Most people who romanticize or fetishize criminals will never become truly violent aside from MAYBE doxxing on Twitter and/or sending gore on DMs. The real problem are the ones who constantly consume content that blurs the line between "disturbing" and "acceptable" (like the resent case of those two girls who wanted to revive Adam Lanza)

i havent been on that side of the internet or groups of people for some time but im not shocked... its definitely really weird. i think it stems from wanting to be cool and niche, or werent taught any healthy outlets for their energy. parents are scared to send their children to school and children are scared to go. its very insensitive.

also with this, while i enjoy horror and listening to true crime, and even like certain FICTIONAL bad characters (even then, you should be critical of their actions too), i thought the jeffrey dahmer movie thing was weird. idk, i didnt watch it so maybe my understanding isnt right, but it hought it was odd to make a movie out of that. id just be so dizzying seeing your attacker or loved ones attacker be acted out by someone else.

🩷💜🖤 Someone I used to be close with who I found out secretly glorified school shooters starting telling other people at my school that I was annoying & that they'd only be friends with me to fuel their ego...buddy I think we have bigger problems on our plate than me being annoying, at least I don't fucking fantasize about causing an extreme tragedy that genuinely affects people systemically??? I seriously don't get people's thought process sometimes...

It's honestly so dystopian how many people worship school shooters. They obviously want attention but that also takes away from the victims and their families. I can't imagine being a family member or surviving victim and see someone worship a person like that. It's insane tahts people use you enjoy a film or piece of media as a gotcha moment while they are wrong. The piece of media is faked and scripted and it's supposed to convey a message. Liking and worshipping school shooters is wrong and is bad. It doesn't even compare to fictional movies at all
