concert diary #1: The Von Dukes, Acid Wizard, No Clue 9-18-2026

howdy! i'm mabel, for those who don't know me i work at a record store/indie music venue in Beaumont TX. during the week i play shopkeeper but on weekends i usually work during our concerts, either running doors or the register inside the store (it stays open during shows so u can still shop during/between shows!)

ANYWHOOT, with all that basic info out of the way, last night we had a show as usual!

first we have our pregame: my take on a hippie speedball

OK opening was The Von Dukes, hailing from Lake Charles, Louisiana! they played punk-inspired rock, and were def a vibe!!

the next act was Acid Wizard, a stoner doom metal band (my favourite genre!!) from Corpus Christi, TX. they ROCKED the casbah!!! i sadly didnt get a pic of them playing, and when i asked if i could get a setlist they said they didnt have one, BUT they gave me a piece of original art (which they also had for sale at their merch booth) with the setlist on the back!!

so here's that:

all 3 members also signed the back!!

they also gave me 2 stickers!! both of which are on my car now!!

omg speaking of No Clue in the bottom right, that's our next band!!

they're from my area of Southeast TX, kinda from mixed towns (some Port Neches, some Beaumont iirc, etc), and they do alt rock/emo music (im not well versed in emo stuff so im not gonna try using hyperspecific terminology lmao). also the lead singer/drummer (YES u read that right!! he used to be guitarist/singer too :O) is one of my friends, record store regular and all around a hella cool guy :)
