Cool music I discovered today!!! (8/8/26)

So i started working saturdays at my job this week which I wasn't looking forward to, but like turns out that it was actually better than I thought! This queer couple came in and left a ton of really cool records, everything from the Euphoria soundtrack to like Rina Sawayama (I know what u are...) and out of all of them I listened to three albums in particular,, and these are my thoughts!! 

1. ₵łⱤ₵₳ ₴ɄⱤVłVɆ - JɄ₮ɄⱤ₦₳
 Released - 2005

Genres - Alternative Rock, Post-Hardcore 

So I am kinda familiar with Circa Survive, we have one of their more recent EPs at my job that every now and then I glance at and go "Hmmmm,,, an Emo band doing dream pop,,, interestingg,,," So when I saw this album among the pile my heart genuinely skipped a BEAT. Overall I found the album's sound really interesting, it felt like a lighter version of the more metallic sounds that were happening during the mid 2000s/Scene era, and there were times where I could even describe it as kinda soothing and dreamy?? I kinda get why their newer sound went that way upon hearing this. Like Stop the Fucking Car sounds like what being in Warped Tour would be like if u were in a dream

 The vocalist reminded me of the vocalist on Hail the Sun, where they sound rlly androgynous and lowkey are kinda voice training goalsJSJSJSS. My older coworker drew the comparison to Haley Williams and I kinda hear that too? IDk but they fit with these instrumntals so fucking well and I need Anthony Green to like share his vocal training. Overall I'm a big fan of this album!! One of the first times I started fully dipping my toes in the world of Scene music and oml was I not disappointmentjejeje

Genres - Electropop

U can't expect me to not see The Veronicas and immediately play their album bitch!!! to start there was something weirdly cathartic about playing this album in it's entirety while my job was filled with men, idk it made me feel oddly girlypop in a way that I can't really describe. 

Considering that my music pallete for the entire day was like Metalcore and Industrial Metal, Hook Me Up was like a huuuuuuge switch up in terms of sound, andgurl I am NOT complaining about this in the slightest!!! This entire album is so fun, catchy and brought back that sense of whimsy that I hadn't felt since I watched Disney Channel when I was a kid. The whole album feels like Neon Pink leopard print and that's honestly the best way I could describe itSJSJSJS. My favorite song, aside from the obvious choice on Untouched, was oddly enough the last bonus track "Insomnia". On Youtube in the early 2010s there was this genre of video that would consist of kids lip synching to a song with a ton of seizure-enducing edits on top (If any of  yall remember alexownsuhrfacex3 or thatssojack i love u), and If I was a scene girl during that era I would've 1000% made one of those myself for this song!! "All I Have" is fucking crazy too, like it's the closest thing The Veronicas ever made to emo-popksksks

3. LåÐ¥†rðñ - 604

Released - 2001

Genre - Synthpop

Okay now for the biggest surprise of them all, Ladytron!! I was kinda aware of this band since I got suuuuper hyperfixated on Cut Copy's music back in 2024-ish. So the moment I saw this album I was like o yeah I have to try this out and oooo my god was I in for some of the most life affirming pop I've heard in a whileeeeeee. The whole album immediately reminded me of the band Broadcast, but groovier and way more energetic. IDK how to properly put into words how good this album is so like,, just listen to the song Playgirl (which is on my profiilee it already has me on a chokehold :P)

IDK if any of these albums will be there be there by the time I come back to work next week, but on the odd chance that they are I can't wait to revisit them again and find even more things to love about themmm :3
