I have been working on a crochet tapestry for my friend for a little over a month now. It has been so time consuming. And I found myself in the very real creative experience that happens as you approach the end of a project. Total resistance. I took a break for a bit and let myself just have some fun, play some games and create other things and it was a breath of fresh air. As a multi-disciplinary artist it is so important to work into all the areas that I enjoy or I begin to feel lost and suffocated and bored. This is the ADHD in real time. But this is really important to me and I will not abandon it. Crochet has really been teaching me how to be patient with myself and take breaks when needed on projects without abandoning them. I am excited to see this through and finish it. But I am also, admittedly excited to start on some other crochet projects and other art projects in general. So that is something that I have continued working on. Enjoy these lil progress pics. (Side note: I wrote this some time ago and did finish the project! It was so good and worth it even if it took me a month to do.)

I am going to finally start exploring making clothes using crochet. Fashion is something that I have always been drawn too. I use to spend hours as a child with my grandmother sewing my own clothes and so it feels really fitting to start exploring making clothing with crochet. Not only to honor my grandmother but also to honor the dreams I had as a child. I remember designing clothes, drawing up floor plans for a store and had these vivid dreams of becoming a fashion design and selling clothes one day. This is something I just kind of let go as I got older but it is starting to come back more and more each day but especially since I have started to crochet. I cannot wait to improve this new skill I have picked up do something that is full of so much love and self expression. My next project is going to be a ruffled skirt for one of my dear friends and ex girlfriend. Because lets be honest if you arent making cute clothes for your cute ex girlfriend that is magical and amazing then what are you actually doing?? I have a couple other ideas in the work for other project but I think I am gonna hold onto those for now and share once we are a bit further along. I will say though that something I am extremely grateful for in regards to crochet is having a skill that is crafty that I can use to give gifts to people that are also useful and magical and handmade. I cannot wait to spoil the people I love as I start to delve more and more into this and just generally. Because yes I think the most magical part of developing skills and crafts is using them for your community and for the people that care for you.
I want to really make a habit out of creating art work. Art has saved me time and time again. It is something I can never walk away from no matter what era of my life I am in. Something I have been doing more of is what I call Art Magick Sessions. This is where I take some time to sit down, invite in the spirits and entities that I work with for a specific reason and then make some art. It is a great way to bond and deepen relationship with spirits but also lean into the very real magick uses for creating. I always set an intention for the session whether it is healing, transforming, exploring, bonding etc. It is integral. Something I thought that would help me be able to do this very regularly in a sustainable way is doing it every New Moon and Full Moon. Now I did have an Art Magick Session for the last New Moon that happened in June. It was the New Moon in Gemini and my god was it such a cool and satisfying experience. it was super rewarding. I ended up also using this artwork for a background for an Instagram post that just went up. I added some lines from a poem in my notes app to it and it just flowed really well. I love being able to mix multiple of my practices in one space. Here are some photos of the piece that was made! Also a note on how fulfilling it is to spend time with Archangel Jophiel as an artist. It is something I want to really start focusing more into and hopefully this July I will be able to do some more works.

So on a Venus Day I decided to do a make up look that was inspired by The Love Witch. So I went with this classic blue eyeshadow, black winged liner and bright red lip. It was really fun to do such an older throw back look. Made me feel like I was in 50s glamour a bit more. But I was really reminded of how much I really love using blues in my make up. It was also good for me to practice my lipstick a bit more and doing lipstick is the area with make up I am probably the least experienced in. Confessions of a former scene kid is this- always used gloss or nothing at all never put lipstick on. But I am adapting and growing and adding color to my lips more and more. But it always takes time to learn. I think it would be super cool to get some lip liners one of these days to help the lipstick from bleeding and being able to create more defined lips.
Now for a Saturn day I let myself really do some protection works with my make up, and also leaned more into using the color palette of Saturn that way I could harness the days energy more fully. This look was a lot of fun and really just opened me up. I have never felt more myself than in this looks. Just so gothic and witchy and creative. Idk it felt so good. I was on cloud nine after doing this look. I will probably try something similar again soon.

Something that I have been craving more of recently has been singing. I know I am in the pits when I stop singing. It is not only something important to me because it makes my body feel so good, helps with self expression and just generally is a good time but is also a way that I deeply connect with my ancestors. I remember this reoccurring conversation that my granny and I would have with each other about her mother (my great grandmother) and it was always memories of my Granny recounting the only times she saw her mother happy was when she was singing. My grandmother praised her mother’s singing voice and would tell me all of the time just how sad it is that she didn’t make an actual career out of it. I remember nights spent in the car with my Granny us singing songs together at the top of our lungs, sharing moments of joy across generations. I am actually getting really weepy writing this right now. Music is a deep part of my family. I grew up watching my older brother make music too. He was proficient in almost every instrument he picked up and it constantly inspired me to create. It is actually one of the main things that encouraged me to start making art. And my little brother is following down that same path. A wonderful guitarist that writes emotionally fluid music. It really is in each of us. And singing is how I carry that on.
So I started making a new song. I went really wild with this one though for the music. I really wish I had a band to play with but that is not what I have available to me at the moment so I am just using garage band to make some electronic stuff to sing over. Though one day I would really love to collaborate with others and make music together because that is growth and beauty happens.
This new track is bumps the bass and has the local birds singing in the background. It is something that I am actually really excited to keep working on and of course I will update you all on it as I keep making it. I have several songs I have written over the past few months but none that I have made fully yet. It will be cool to start to really build up my music though. And to let my voice soar. Maybe I will even make a music video for this but who know I will just have to see what happens.
Now for the final little bit for Creators Corner. I wanted to do another artist spotlight. The artist I really wanna Highlight for this Newsletter is Lilo! Lilo is a spiritualist and an artist that is here to remind all of us that spirituality doesn’t look just one way and is multidimensional. I have had such a pleasure of being mutuals with Lilo and anytime I see Lilo’s artwork it always takes my breath away. Lilo is an oil painter primarily from what I have seen but also likes to make jewelry for friends, do tarot readings and spell works. I love being able to see other magick folks flexing their creative skills and Lilo’s art is truly one of a kind. It is so colorful, complex and full of depth and magick. You can follow Lilo on Instagram and threads! Go check it out and support living artists!
XOXO Angel
