Creep (2014)

Creep is mostly famous for its microscopic budget (Around $500 spent mostly on gas) and genuine found footage atmosphere. Creep feels good to watch despite the horror elements because it feels like a testament to film. Anybody can make a movie. You just need a friend and a camera. The rest is up to you. 

Minimal editing, entirely hand-held, and the sets were just whatever was available. Not everybody is going to love the home video vibe, but it really spoke to me. I usually love found footage films and I think Creep did it best.

The cast is super small at just three people. The director and main character Patrick Brice (Aaron), the mysterious villain Mark Duplass (Josef?), and a single scene voice over done by Mark Duplass's wife, Katie Aselton (Angela). Each of them does a great job of acting to create atmosphere against the minimal (and forgettable) soundtrack. 

The impact of the movie relies entirely on the reveal, so if you've been spoiled it's not really worth watching unless you're hoping to get into the sequel or TV show. 

Usually I go pretty in depth on the plot but since this film is best seen blind, I won't spoil anything. There are so many little creepy moments that lead up to a well deserved finale.
