Soooo....I have a crush on this one boy from my class. We talk in school daily and it seems like he enjoys my company. He smiles a lot and tells jokes.
Today I asked him if he wanted to see me after school. He said yes and we agreed that we would hang out after school. He was kind to me and bought me a monster. He was really open to me about pretty personal stuff in his life and seemed to trust me. He talked a lot about wanting a relationship and how he thinks he has no chance with anyone. That kinda seemed odd to me but otherwise everything was pretty good. I think he suspects that I like him because he kept asking why I specifically wanted to hang out with him.
I'll give u some info that will be useful later: We live in a small, and I mean SMALL town and theres not a lot of hang out spots. Everyone knows each other here and theres a LOT of gossip.
Later, a few of our classmates saw us walking side by side and immediately started teasing us like asking are we dating each other. He was surprisingly calm and responded no. Idk if this is a good or a bad sign...If my class starts gossiping about us, I'm afraid that he'll get uncomfortable around me and would start avoiding me to end the gossip.
But...yeahhh....what do yall think? I'm honestly confused and overanalysing EVERY SINGLE word he says to me so...

Honestly, I don't think him saying "no" when people asked if you were dating is a bad sign 😭 You guys aren't dating, so he was just answering the question. The fact that he stayed calm instead of getting weird or immediately distancing himself is actually pretty reassuring.
And honestly, there are a LOT of little things here that seem positive. He agreed to hang out with you, and was comfortable enough to open up about personal stuff, and he seems to genuinely enjoy being around you. The fact that he kept asking why you specifically wanted to hang out with him makes me wonder if he suspects you might like him 👀
The relationship thing is interesting too, but I wouldn't automatically assume he was hinting at you. He could've just been talking about something that's been on his mind.
As for the gossip, I totally get why you're worried, especially because you live in such a small town 😭 But I wouldn't start avoiding him or acting super differently because people are teasing you. If anything, just laugh it off and keep treating him normally. If he genuinely enjoys your company, some classmates making jokes shouldn't automatically make him stop talking to you.
Basically: I think there are enough good signs to keep exploring the friendship, but not enough to say for certain that he likes you romantically yet. Don't overanalyze every single word he says (even though I KNOW that's easier said than done 😭). Look at the overall pattern of how he treats you.
