don't pretend to live in another decade

I have learned this the hard way. I ruined most of my high school years trying to pretend that I was living in the 2000's, making 2000's only references, trying to only use a windows XP computer (biggest mistake), listening to 2000's music only, and mostly scrolling my phone looking and nostalgia Instagram reels, and that made me feel like an outcast. on my last school year I ditched the act and my life really started to improve, I made friends, I became more outgoing, no one was afraid to come up and talk to me, that was the best school year I ever had.

Now I know this sounds ironic given that im typing this on a very clearly MySpace inspired website but listen to me for a second. I think its great to get away from your phone, or at the very least get rid most of your social media. I ditched Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat and my life has never been better. I can see now on how much social media can warp your mind, algorithms have became predatory, luring you on with pics and videos you might like or hate so it can keep you on there for as long as it can. not to mention the things these company's are doing that basically violate your privacy and rights but im starting to go on a tangent here so let me wrap it back.

Try living as if you had the limitations of people in the 90's and 2000s, and what I mean by that is use only a desktop or laptop computer at home, get one of those feature phones for digital detox, make plans to meet up with your friends out in public (make sure to bring a small camera), watch TV instead of scrolling on your phone. These barriers are important, they force us to interact more, it forces us to go out more, we see the world more clearly and not behind a screen.

now go outside
