This entry is mostly for me to ramble to the void, since there's only so many times I can rant to my buddies about what I'm hoping to get, haha.
I've got a Ranger right now (a 4.0l), and when it works, it's amazing. I honestly recommend most people who would like a truck to get a 3rd gen Ranger. It's all you'd ever need for most people if you need a truck purely for truck things.
Unfortunately, the last people who owned my Ranger (who also knew it'd be my first vehicle) were able to get me to overpay for a very jerry-rigged truck with rust all over various things underneath. I won't get too far into it, but you find A LOT of oddities under a jerry-rigged farm truck you overpaid for XD.
I'm planning on either getting an OBS Ford F-150 or a 2nd Gen Dodge Ram 1500. I'll be honest, I mostly want a Ram for the aesthetics. I know the Cummins is the best engine they got, but the 3.9l and 5.2 Magnum can be decent if you take care of them. Either trucks gotta be a single cab short bed. I myself am a shorter dude and I always prefer a truck on the smaller side. While I plan on going bigger mainly because the Ranger's engine is packed in tight (seriously, try replacing the O2 sensors on a Ranger without having to take off your front tires :')...) it's definitely best for me to go as small a full-sized truck as I can.
Extra "dream truck" things would have to be:
1) Black paint job. My Ranger's white, and one annoying thing about white paint is that after 30 years, it comes off fucking easy. You take a power washer to my truck instead of washing it by hand and you can get it down to the bare metal. I will say white looks clean as hell in the rain or at night.
2) 4x4 for either truck. Hard as shit to find a manual 4x4 nowadays though. If I get a Ram it absolutely has to be manual, haha.
3) This is gonna be a personal project for me either truck as well, but I really want to interior swap one and make it look clean. Something that (if I get a Ram) would basically be a requirement even if the dash didn't crumble to dust when you set your wallet on top.
4) I'm planning to put together a much better sub system that the set up I got in my Ranger. I wanna focus way more on sound quality this time than exclusively just bass.
Aside from those, I'd also probably be down to get a 1st Gen Toyota Tacoma. They're hard to find, at least in my area, but they look so nice. A 1st Gen Tacoma with manual 4x4 would be sick.
If I got any info wrong you're more than welcome to correct me. I'm honestly not the most mechanically inclined, I just know a little bit about 90s trucks, probably just barely more than the average joe that doesn't work on their own things. Also open to suggestions about anything if you got 'em. I know Chevy's also got some decent small trucks, I just know absolutely nothing about Chevy.
