My first console was the PlayStation 2, and for awhile I didn't think I needed anything else. In the summer of 2009 I went over to my cousin's house and saw him playing the PlayStation 3. The graphics were like nothing I had ever seen before. So, I went to Best Buy, and made the largest purchase of my life at the time. I got a late fat model PS3 for 500$. Later that year the slim model came out for 300$ 🤦
I picked out Medal of Honor Airborne for 30$, and the console came with a free 60$ game, so I also got Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. At the time I wasn't allowed to have M rated games, but once Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 came out, I was all in. The following year my best friend got a PS3 with Call of Duty Black Ops, and we played that every night we could. Every sleepover was also just non-stop Black Ops Zombies.
My favorite games have always been story driven adventure games, but the PS3 having free online play and lacking private chats, allowed me to have my first access to online gaming and make some great friends along the way. One of my best friends I even met on PlayStation Home.
While I have kept up with every console generation, I always end up going back to my PlayStation 3. Maybe it's the nostalgia. Maybe it's because I don't have to wait for a 100gb download. Maybe it's because AAA games typically arrived finished back then- but regardless, I love the thing.

i think i recall seeing something like this a while back when i was still a spacehey user! i never experienced a few things on ps3 (home being one of them), but the ps3 is a special console because i was forced to have it, but i'm glad i did! xbox 360 would have sucked without free online play :(
Haha you might of seen the first time I posted this then! I really loved the Ps3, I always was shocked when I found out the Xbox 360 required a subscription and the controllers used AAs. That being said, I've been tempted to get a 360 to finally take a swing at Halo lol

I really want to have a 360 to play Halo singleplayer and some of the live arcade titles!!! I wish I didn't abandon my older brother's 360 when we got it, we could have used BadUpdate by now :(

I relate to this so much but with the PS Vita there’s just something about going back to an older console that feels better than playing on something newer. maybe it’s the nostalgia or how simple everything feels but I always end up appreciating it more every time I use it
I've found that playing on a dedicated handheld that had games developed for it always feels so much more personable. There's just a level of intent and creativity that goes into those things that Android and PC gaming could never replace.
