Mailing Journey

Hi internet! As of this year, I began to write letters to my lovely friends both in-state and internationally. It has been interesting navigating the mailing system and figuring out how to mail items outside paper letters internationally, but it has been fun decorating and talking to them at a more intimate level.

And honestly getting an email that a letter arrived has to be like top 10 experience

I write this because I wanted to share my mailing and letter writing experiences and, if anyone has ever done this, to hear your stories! I am still struggling to understand how to mail items outside of the normal letter internationally (big gulp emoji), so if anyone has any tips and tricks, please send it my way!!

As of recently, I have begun making zines along with the traditional letter (which I plan on formatting via Canva since printing all the items and gluing them together takes too much time for a full time pre-med student) but if anyone has ideas on what else to include (like stickers or anything small) I'd love to hear it!

Okay this has gotten long so I'll leave this here, but I will probably comment on this post and drop updates there. Lots of love :p

wait that is actually really cool. My bf is moving soon (not internationally), and I was thinking of starting to send letters. Buttt doesnt it cost a bit?

But yeah, stickers, maybe polaroids? would be cute. If you took photos of ur town and shared w ur international friends (tho film is not cheapp.. u could print photos!)!! little drawings (even if u dont draw much)... different pen colours, small trinkets, origami? Oh, pressing plants and flowers u see around u in books, and then using them to decorate ur letter!

It depends on what u send! Sending a normal less-than-one-ounce letter should be less than a dollar (82 cents). If u want to send something bigger, it is going to be more. I recommend checking the rates on the USPS website and getting the forever stamps if u plan on sending letters over time.

I def am thinking about sending printed photos and I love the pressing plants/flowers idea! I'll just have to double check with international regulations on the pens and small trinkets since that would count as a package butttt those are really good ideas, thank yewww :P
