hello, hi. nice to meet you, im nia. i dont care who you are.
the 2000's
look, if you wanna actually "live like it's the 2000's" i'm all for it. but if you're just a bandwagon hopping b**** then leave.
1. find your niche: what kind of year reaches out to you the most? me personally, i love the fashion of 2004, but love the tech of 2009. it's easy to merge the two once you understand whats best for you! :o)
2. BRANDS, BRANDS, BRANDS!! Over the years I have managed to dig up brands that not only were worn in the 2000s, but are also relatively cheap now. don't go out and splurge on a $150 rotting juicy couture tracksuit just because of the label! search for brands like...
ROXY, DAVID & GOLIATH, SELF-ESTEEM, AMERICAN APPAREL, DANSKIN, IT'S HAPPY BUNNY(my personal fav), RED RIVET, and NO BOUNDARIES. walmart brands were poppin in the 2000s for middle class-lower class teens. look for store clothing brands that were sold in target, walmart, random malls u went to growing up, etc.
3. room decor and painting: if you wanna live like its 2000 whatever, you need to commit to the bit. paint your walls teal or any color or than white please! you don't know how much it helps to bring that authentic 2000s feel. cover your walls in random articles, posters, notes from friends, stickers, etc.
4. tech: thrift OR purchase online any of these items that spark your interest: blank CD's, portable dvd player, iPod, mp3 player, cd player, cd rack, speakers, etc.
5. ditch your phone as much as possible: get your lazy a** off of tiktok and go watch a movie, journal, make a diary, watch youtube using "before:2010 ____" on your search bar(computer only).
6. makeup and vanity: THIN YOUR BROWS NOW. nobody likes a bushy soap brow.. for makeup, you barely need any: eyeliner, mascara, and some lip gloss/chapstick for a simple school look! i doubt people cared about skincare too much since they were shoving dream matte mousse into their pores..so, don't be so insecure about your acne.
7. for people on a tight budget: go to a family member and ask if they have any old clothes lying in their garage, if they were socially relevant in the 2000s i bet they have some gems! also, thrifting will be your best friend. go as much as possible, or if you're a germaphobe, DIY a bunch of cool shirts and pants ;o).
well...that's all i got, xoxo - nia/gamora.net
