Frontier Eternal EP

Hello, everyone!

The rest of my debut EP - Frontier Eternal - is now uploaded on here too. So at the same time, I wanted to use the opportunity to ramble about it a little bit and make some (more or less) interesting comments about the tracks.

Originally released on January 9th, 2026 barely over a couple of weeks after I first purchased FL Studio. I guess I just felt the creative juices flowing, so I didn't really bother hesitating. Also available on your other streaming platforms of choice, as well as the one EP I currently have available for free download on Soundcloud - in .wav format too!

In order of being made:

Void Oceans was the second track that I ever made (first is yet to be published) and what convinced me that this kind of thing - moody, atmospheric Dark Ambient - was what I wanted to do. In fact, I made this on the free version of FL - no re-opening a project once it's saved and closed! Overwhelming, slow, piano/siren-like synths before Space Boops (see next paragraph) take over, before the void swallows it all. Suitable for an ending, I reckoned, so at the back it went!

Satellite - that was the one I made next, but the first one that I published, around 25th or 26th of December, 2025. Something calmer, more soothing and yet still quite ominous - at this point I'd already noted that I had a particular FLEX preset that was my favourite - called "Enlightenment", more reckognisable as "Space Boops", though. I like that name - it fits, hehe.

Breach was up next, and the second track that I released. Something different from Satellite, something less... ominous and more explicitly grim. I found the hit sound while browsing synths, which is where I got the idea for this track - the rest of it kinda came along by itself. Also a bit of a brat of a track - when exporting in various formats, it always seems to sound different. The signal heard throughout was a late addition, but one I found as really sealing the deal, which then lead me to the next track.

Departure was something I now had in mind for the intro track. Something that sounds somewhat more human, more optimistic, even if "misleading" in that optimism, as ominousness still looms. Initially it had a different lead synth, but I played around with the ending strings and turned that into the intro as well... and then there's that signal sound... calling.

The Traverse then followed. I don't have that much to say about this one, it went by pretty quick and smooth once the idea popped in my head, though just like Departure, I made a refined version the next day, finding the second half a bit too empty at first. The metallic ding is the same preset as the banging sound in Breach, just with much higher notes being used.

Wandering Lost is a name fitting more than just thematically - it's the one track that I'm still kind of unsure of, ironically. I wanted it to go long, drag on a bit, as if wandering (lost) in deep space after some kind of an event. Again, like The Traverse, I found it a bit empty in its first version, but later altered it again because I wasn't happy with the notes. I'm still not, but when I re-exported it for uploading here, it's actually one of my more complex ones in terms of how it's arranged. Well how about that...

I've got more tracks that I've made - stay tuned for those to get uploaded as well at some point in the near future.

Thanks,

Cordell

So I'm quite only listening to the EP through this website and thankfully this website gives the ability to listen to the music uploaded here while browsing around which is actually really great and I could listen to the EP while browsing around.

I actually really liked the EP and it's actually pretty good.

And I really enjoy listening to it while browsing around here on FriendRewind.

I'm glad to hear you liked it! And yeah, it is a very nice feature, I can definitely agree to that! The only thing that the player at the bottom is missing is a good 'ol Winamp logo! I'll share the rest of what I've got over the weekend (unless I get distracted).

Outside of sharing previously published stuff, at the moment I'm playing around with the MIDI controller/keyboard that I bought a couple weeks ago, so far it gives me the feeling that with that I can branch out in another direction, as opposed to clicking and dragging the notes on FL Studio, so that'll be a lot of fun!

No Problem. :)

And I'm looking forward on what you've got in the future.

Keep up the good work, Davis.
