I think the most underrated soundtrack in all of film is Thom Yorke's work on the 2018 remake of Suspiria. He's better known for being the lead singer of Radiohead, but his personal style really shines through on this soundtrack.
He blends eerie ambience with soulful mourning and even has a harshly political track in the mix (Has Ended). I've always loved the piano in his solo music and it takes centre stage in this soundtrack. It sometimes feels like a clever reference to the older 1977 film's piano teacher but I haven't yet done a side-by-side of the melodies.
My favourite track is Volk, which is supposed to tell the story of a mother-daughter relationship. I love songs that try to convey narrative without any lyrics. Although, the story is much clearer when the dance choreography is included.
Has anyone else listened to this soundtrack? Either through watching the movie or enjoying Yorke's solo career?
