Has anyone seen the nrrrd grrrl trend on tiktok? If so what do we think about it 🤔 I’ve seen multiple people getting, I guess(?), upset over the things people put as their interests and label it as a ‘nerdy’ subject, while others don’t really seem to pay much attention to it! And this just brings my attention to another topic, why are people wanting to be seen as weird now? Especially people who are like, no shade, but generic, basic, and not just in the same circle as “actual weird people” are…. I’m not sure if I’m even describing this right, eng isn’t first language (´・Д・)」!! I’ve seen people put things like starbucks, fast food places, and even ch*tgpt (blegh 🤢) with the trend… but aside from that, my main question still remains.
I personally am in-between, I just can’t seem to understand how some things could be considered nerdy when it’s like the most common and normal thing to be interested in? But at the same time I could also see why because if the person was really into it then they could be nerdy about and be saying like fun facts and knowing just a little bit more than others.
Retracing back to the main question, what do you think about it (´・ω・`) ??

Lately, I feel like basic people have been labeling themselves "nerds" or "weirdos" simply because they like a specific anime, for example—largely due to the romanticization of these terms, and the fact that these individuals likely never faced bullying for actually being "weird." In my view, the very people who used to bully others using these labels are now adopting them in a romanticized way, yet they still pass judgment when they encounter someone who is genuinely "weird" (by their standards).
Ouhh thats a good eay to describe it! I never really thought about being weird/nerdy as something that could be seen as something romanticized (゚o゚) you’ve opened my eyes ! I agree with the bullying part as well.. (´・ω・`)

Honestly, I'm mixed too. I don't think people should be made fun of for their interests n all but at the same time, a lot of people that feel socially outcast or different from their peers for one reason or another fall back on these "weird" communities to finally find acceptance and a safe space to be themselves, and basic people trying to participate in that community feels like its just taking that safe space away!
That’s a good way to describe it as! I agree with taking the safe space away because if they find things “too weird” they would probably think prejudice thoughts that don’t fit their standards! If that makes sense? _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):

it’s super cool! i love how a lot of people come tigether also in the comments abt the fandoms or “nerdy” things they liked!
Yes! This is one of the reason why I am somewhat in between because at the end of the day, it could truly be someones way of making new friends and such! It just all depends on how the person sees others imo (´⊙ω⊙`) !!
